Claiborne Cottage was built in 1906 and is located in a lovely historic neighborhood. The home has been restored back to it's original beauty with floor to ceiling windows, hardwood floors, interior shutters, and attention to maintaining the integrity of the home. While valuing the historic nature of the home, we have added some modern amenities such as a beautiful glass walk-in shower off the master bedroom and a new 300 foot deck off the kitchen. The home is available for 30 days or more.
The space
Claiborne Cottage is an exceptional home with many unique touches. The cottage has a New Orleans theme and honors the musical history of this wonderful and engaging area. Each bedroom pays to tribute to two famous Legends Louis Armstrong and Mahalia Jackson. The two large bedrooms each have a king size bed, one with an ensuite bathroom which has a walk in glass shower with double shower heads. The other bedroom can be made into two twin beds with a full bathroom across the hall complete with the original claw foot tub. The well laid out kitchen has porcelain flooring from Italy and a cozy eating area. The dining room is very spacious with a beautiful table and chairs and as well as an antique lighting fixture. The large hall that connects the living room to the dining room is a cozy place to read or work. Every room has 12 foot ceilings and there are the traditional transoms above the interior doors. Much of the art in the home is original. Claiborne Cottage has a traditional front porch complete with a red wooden rocker as well as a very large and inviting deck off the kitchen. Please note that the house can be rented for 30 days or more and is not for short term rentals. Discounts may be given for stays longer than 30 days.
