The city of Opa-locka is a 4.2 square mile urban community that was established in 1926 by aviation pioneer Glenn Curtiss. It holds the distinction of having the largest collection of Moorish Revival architecture in the Western Hemisphere, including a City Hall complete with minarets and elaborately painted domes.
Opa-locka also has its own airport, which is used today for private planes, and the Opa-locka Hialeah Flea Market which is open 365 days a year and sees more than 100,000 visitors per week.
