Originally, the Model Land Company (MLC) was created by Henry Flagler in 1896 to oversee his real estate holdings in Florida. He conveyed title to approximately 37 acres north and west of the famed Ponce De Leon Hotel in 1903. From that point in time and covering several decades thereafter, a wide variety of home styles were built which eventually became the Model Land Company Historic District we know today. At that time, most streets within this area were brick-paved streets with decorative brick sidewalks. Today there are still sections of streets with the original street and sidewalk materials, such as Valencia and Sevilla. This historic neighborhood is bounded by Cordova, King, Orange and Malaga Streets and consists of private residences, bed & breakfasts, small businesses, churches and schools.
