A RARE FIND! This former residential home is presently being used as a Bed & Breakfast and Bridal Venue. Sitting on the crystal clear waters of the Guadalupe River, this magnificent vacation/bridal spot is located just one mile from Historical Gruene. You can feel the love that the owners had when they renovated this home into the magnificent Bed & Breakfast / Bridal Venue it currently is. Their story will make you appreciate it all the more:

Tired of the corporate rat race, the current owners, George and Judy, decided to quit their jobs in January of 1996, sell their dream home in Houston, and along with friends and family, bought the house at 1385 Edward Boulevard in April of 1996. After moving in June of 1996 with their faithful dog and companion Patti, Judy and George and began working on their vision for the home that is now Lambs Rest Inn.

The house was in need of complete renewal so they began with a new roof, remodeled the kitchen and added custom glass cabinets for dishes and linens in the great room, installed French doors, removed the exterior walls of the great room and replaced them with glass doors, taking advantage of the large porch overlooking the Guadalupe River. They then updated the light fixtures, installed new carpeting and floors, added new central air and heating systems throughout. As they started working on the bedrooms, they added private baths and repainted every single room inside and out adding touches of European style and beauty as they went.

To make the new private suites accessible from the porch, they rebuilt both the upper and lower decks, added porch railings and and installed new steps and wooden walkways which slowly terrace down through the grand oaks and cypress trees and beautifully landscaped terrain at the back of the property, and provide a private gathering spot overlooking the Guadalupe River. The addition of arbors in front and back also created ideal settings for outdoor bridal ceremonies. The newly updated pool with tile, plaster, stone patio, fencing and surround deck created the perfect place to relax and enjoy the company of friends, family and acquaintances.

The flood of October 1998 claimed all the decks, but never reached the house. Keeping to their original plan, George and Judy rolled up their sleeves and started working. Again, they installed decks and walkways to allow access to the Guadalupe River, remodeled the downstairs apartment and added and additional bedroom with charming Hoover glass doors and old farm sink. They then closed the garage with glass doors across the front and also installed a four foot porch entrance into the kitchen, an office area with fireplace, and a hall for commercial refrigerator, freezer, washer and dryer.

As the Lambs Rest Inn grew in popularity, they installed a new septic system with private line to NBU treatment facility to accommodate larger groups. They also built a private cottage with separate shower and jacuzzi, a private balcony overlooking the river, and then continued adding more fencing with lattice work to create even more privacy.

Later, they enclosed a portion of the front porch, creating another front bedroom with sitting room, small office at the front of the property, landscaped the front areas and added additional cedar fencing. When remodeling the kitchen in 2008-2012, they added all new appliances, 30" double oven, five burner gas stove top, dishwasher and laminate flooring. New custom cabinets with glass doors also added to this already charming place and enables guests the opportunity to entertain and cater to their wedding party or family gatherings. The back porch was also completed repainted and resurfaced and new storage area for trash cans and propane tank, and they updated the landscaping and added a new pool gate with solid cedar and added yet another arbor.
